Winter League – Cuyahoga County Pistol League (CCPL)

International Defensive Pistol Association
The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real life encounters. Shooters competing in IDPA events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No “competition only” equipment is permitted in IDPA matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his equipment or gamesmanship.
North Olmsted Sportsman’s Club has an active IDPA program. Club members meet on Friday evenings to practice their defensive pistol skills. See the club calendar for a schedule of IPDA events. IDPA courses of fire are changed each week to simulate various self-defense scenarios. Both accuracy and speed are tested in these scenarios.
All club members are invited to join in this exciting, fun and practical shooting sport. Non-members are invited to come and see IPDA in action. Each participant must attend an NOSC/IDPA Orientation before shooting for the first time at NOSC. Orientation is usually held on the last Friday of the month — check the Club Calendar for exact dates. IDPA is open to members 21 years or age or older. Practice nights are not open to minors or children.
Summer League
The NOSC Summer League consists of weekly .22 caliber “Bullseye” (aka Precision Pistol) matches during the Summer months from 7pm – 8:30 on Mondays.

- Rapid Fire: Two 5 shot strings, 10 seconds per string
At the end of the Summer season, an outdoor match is held at Kelbly’s in North Lawrence, Ohio. The Kelbly’s outing consists of two .22 caliber matches which count for Summer League score averages, as well as fun matches with Center Fire (at least ,32 caliber) .45 caliber and Service Pistol.
Bowling Pin Shoot
As part of the NOSC Bowling Pin Shoot, participants have a maximum of 30 seconds to knock off 5 regulation bowling pins off of a plank. Participants fire from behind a table, 25 feet from the pins. A “Floor Pin” is used as a starting aim point. Each participant shoots three sets of five pins removing the worst time and averaging the remaining two. Scores are determined by the time taken to remove all five pins from the plank.
The Bowling Pin Shoot utilizes .22 caliber semi-auto pistol magazines that can contain no more than 10 rounds. There are no restrictions regarding sites, grips or barrel length. Revolvers are also permitted. Three magazine or revolver speed loaders are recommended. Shoots take place on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 7-10 p.m.
Revolver League
More popularly called the “Dirty Harry League,” the Revolver League utilizes centerfire, double-action revolvers, bridging the spring season between the winter and summer shooting leagues. Learn how to shoot the way Clint Eastwood pretended he could shoot in the movies!
